In my article “American Bank Note Co. Order F442 – Part of the Peso Bronze Issue” in the 2nd Quarter 2005 issue of The Chile Specialist I described the “print order” for a specific order. This supplement summarizes all the print orders for Chile found in the “ABNC Print Order” books for the period 1873-1909.
The following table summarizes the information in the volumes. I leave analysis for other articles

Date of order = date entered in the book
Order # = beginning in January or February 1902 orders for the Foreign Department were numbered consecutively and prefixed with a “F”
# of impressions = number of impressions of the plate; multiply this number by the sheet size to obtain the total number of stamps. A few of the numbers are unusual such as 2777 140/180 which means 2777 impressions of full sheets and a partial sheet of 140.
Sheet size = size of the plate
Pane size = if the sheet was divided into a smaller size, this is the resulting size
What = what was being printed
Color = ABNC name of color of the stamp. If bi-colored then two colors are listed with a “/” separating them, for example bronze/black.
Notes/comments = various factoids that I found interesting.
Litho = lithographed
Typo = typographed
Rotary = printed using rotary plates
16 on = sheet contains 16 images

WARNING: Some items furnished by the ABNC are not in the list. The following table lists the items not found in the “Print Order” books.
Why were they not in the “Print Order” book? I do not know the answer.
Possibly these items were not produced by ABNC – could they have been outsourced?
The stamped envelopes were manufactured by George F. Nesbitt & Co. which I wrote about in “The 1888 and 1903 Stamped Envelope Issues ” in the 4th Quarter 2003 issue of The Chile Specialist. Could the postal cards have been printed by Nesbitt? Or somebody else?
The “1865-1894 Republica de Chile” ABNC incoming mail folder does not provide any clues. Note the 1889, 1891, 1893, 1894, 1896, (Oct.) 1898, and 1903 stamped envelope orders included other items which can be found in the “Print Order” books.

As a correction to my “American Bank Note Co. Postal Card Orders. 1882-1893” article in the 1st Quarter 2005 issue of The Chile Specialist, please add the May 3, 1889 postal card order to the list of orders. Also change the June 11, 1891 order to 50K 2c domestic postal card

The panes for the 1901-2 “Napoleon” issue were not numbered in the July 1901, February 1902, and August 1902 orders but starting with the December 1902 order the panes were numbered in red at the top. This is also true for the telegraph stamps. Below are two margin strips from the left pane of the 5c telegraph stamp overprinted for postal use. The first margin strip contains no numbering in red and thus the telegraph stamp was printed before December 1902.

The February 1904 order had the numbers printed in a corresponding color instead of red. I know of a 5c margin strip with the number in blue from the December 1903 order which indicates other orders may be printed in this way even though the print order had the number being printed in red. The following table lists the stamps with Chile Specialized 2.000 catalog numbers, if any, followed by the ABNC order date and the quantity ordered. The number of stamps ordered may be greater than the amount issued or even delivered. See the “Notes/comment” column in the previous table for information about quantities that were ordered but not delivered.
